Link to the current situation / Restrictions for crossing the border (13.03.2020)
Information dated March 13, 2020:
All transit countries are currently taking steps to curb the spread of the coronavirus across as wide an area as possible. As a result, there have been noticeable restrictions in cross-border traffic, which are also affecting freight transportation: There are already delays and restrictions, and they are sure to become more widespread. We are in close contact with our cooperation partners and colleagues in other countries and are trying to maintain operations as well as possible. We have taken appropriate steps at our locations and warehouses to maintain operations. Our technical systems and customs clearance are working smoothly at present.
We remain able to work at all of our locations. We have set up mobile workstations for many of our employees so they can work from home. All employees have received specific instructions regarding preventive steps to stay healthy. You, our customers, can continue to contact us via all of the usual channels. If you have any questions about current orders or shipments, please reach out to us by phone or e mail.
We would like to thank all our employees and you, our valued customers, for your kindness and understanding during the current tense situation.
Information dated March 12, 2020:
Current information on the effects of border controls in Austria/Italy and the state of emergency in Slovakia and the Czech Republic on freight transportation.
Freight transportation, Czech Republic:
Effective today, a state of emergency has been declared in the Czech Republic due to the coronavirus. Specifically, this means that residents of countries heavily affected by the virus are no longer permitted to enter the country – that includes Germany and Austria. Special rules currently apply to freight transportation. Three crossings on the border with Germany and four on the border with Austria remain open. Controls are being performed there. These controls are leading to restrictions and delays in deliveries, which affect our shipments along with those of others.
Freight transportation, Slovakia:
A state of emergency was also declared in Slovakia today. Persons without a habitual residence in Slovakia are barred from entering the country, and most air and train traffic has been halted. Extensive controls are being performed at the borders. Transportation is still possible here, but there are delays and restrictions.
Freight transportation, Italy/Austria:
Our shipments to and from Italy are among those affected by the current border controls, health checks, and inspections on the border between Italy and Austria. Delivery delays are occurring, and restrictions are being put in place.
We cannot assess the specific scope of the delays in our shipments at this time. We are in ongoing contact with our partners and drivers in the area and will let you know as soon as we have new information on the current status. If you, our customers, have questions about your shipment, please feel free to contact us and our employees at any time. We will do our best to maintain ongoing operations.
We will let you know about current developments and changes here and via our other information channels. We hope everyone who has fallen ill makes a speedy and full recovery.

Important information: All of our shipments and logistics services to, within, and through Italy can currently take place as planned.
Italy, which has been especially hard-hit by the spread of the coronavirus, is currently under a state of emergency. Schools are closed, a curfew has been imposed, and travel bans have been enacted. The Italian government is currently doing everything it can to curb the spread of COVID-19. To prevent delivery bottlenecks and supply gaps, special rules apply to shipments: Logistical services and transportation can still be performed despite the lockdown.
With this in mind, we have important information for our customers: All of our shipments and logistics services to, within, and through Italy can currently take place as planned. Our correspondents and partners in Italy have taken all of the necessary steps to be able to maintain normal operations. Still, there may be obstacles and possible delays. We hope you will understand if this is the case. If you have any questions or are planning a “sensitive” shipment, our employees are here to help.
We will let you know about current developments and changes here and via our other information channels. We hope everyone who has fallen ill makes a speedy and full recovery.
